STROKE: Remember the 1st Three Letters.... S.T.R.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke... totally . He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough."

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.

T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today)

R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke - Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other , that is also an indication of a stroke..

Yup, your eyes have not deceived you.

Which I find kind of disgusting, really.
I mean, some coloured food are ok but this pink doesn't appeal to me at all.
Oh well, at least it's not some other colour like BLUE or PURPLE.
Now that would be gross.

Do they sell this in Malaysia? Am I that outdated that I've never came across this before? Haven't been grocery shopping for awhile now =/

Little grapes??

Has anyone of you ever seen LITTLE GRAPES??

And by little, I mean about pea-sized, one-tenth of a normal grape kind of little.

Well, I've never seen any in my 17 years and 7 days on this earth, at least, not until yesterday morning. And neither has my mom (who has lived waaaay longer than I have, obviously).

And so, when we saw it at the market yesterday, we decided to buy it (RM15 a box. Not sure if that's daylight robbery). It tastes kinda sweetish-sourish, nice to snack on (and healthy too!). Though, I'm quite sure it's genetically modified (GM) and it might have some negative effect bla bla. Argh, reminds me of Bio..

Anyway, the reason I'm blabbering here is of course, to show you pictures of the little grapes.

Robots invaded Queensbay!

This post is a few days late but at least it's up now. I went to the Transformers exhibition in Queensbay on Sunday (not sure if it's still there now) and the number of robots there, WOW. It's like Queensbay got invaded by tiny versions of the robots itself!

YouTube artist David Sides teamed with the self proclaimed "Most Popular R&B Group on YouTube, Ahmir, for the song that's quickly finding its way around the internet.

I think that it was amazing! Such an inspirational song sung wonderfully.

See-through frogs & alien salamanders?

No, I am not kidding. This is the Hyalinobatrachium pellucidum, also called a glass or crystal frog because you can see through its transparent flesh (right down to its guts!).

And this is the Genus Bolitoglossa, nicknamed the 'ugly salamander'. It looks like ET!

Conservation International (CI) scientists have come back with some startlingly vivid images of endangered and never-before-seen critters like these two from a whirlwind trip to the Nangaritza Protected Forest in Ecuador, near the Peruvian border.

My blog is feeling lonely. I feel like I'm talking to the wall; no comments, no reviews, no feedback. I can't help but think that there's no one reading my blog anymore (or maybe there isn't). So pathetic right. So, start leaving comments and feedbacks again, pretty pretty please? This blogger needs to know if what she's writing is worth reading and worth the space in this blog. This blogger needs to know what her readers want to read and she wants to try to deliver the best to her readers.

Oh yea, preferably, leave your comments in the comment box, not the chat box. You can go to the comment box by clicking the link below every posts that say _ insights. Reason being because I wanna be able to see what my readers have to say about a particular post by just clicking on the post rather than having to sieve through my chat box for it. Anyway, it is rather obvious that a comment box is to comment and a chat box is to chat, isn't it?

You can leave messages like 'Hi', 'Hey', 'Whoever whoever was here' or whatsoever that is unrelated to my posts in the chat box. Or you can bug me to update there (I do take those seriously okay) but no spammers please.

If you don't start leaving comments, I might have to shut down my blog because of the lack of readers. Yes, that was a threat! Haha. Okay, I was just joking. My blog is here to stay as long as Blogger lives, whether you like it or not. But seriously, I hope you guys give me feedback on my posts =)

On another note, I might want to rewrite all the past comments you guys left in my chat box into my comment box of the rightful posts. The reason is the same as I had stated above and also, I want to be able to see what you guys said about my posts when I look back at my blog at 60 years old because by then, Cbox might no longer offer its services or I might have decided to delete my chat box at one point because someone spammed it or something like that, and then all the precious things you readers left for me will be gone forever! *dramatic gasp*

So, I'm just asking for your permissions now. If there's no response (I'm crossing my fingers that there will be), I'll take it as there are no objections. After all, silence means submission, right? There's gonna be lots of work (200++ posts and more than a year's worth of comments to go through) but I'll take it one step at a time and I have lots of time in my hands.

Another thing that got me thinking is that if I remove my chat box, would you guys start leaving comments in my comment box or would that actually cause you guys to NOT leave comments at all anymore? I mean, I don't want to remove my chat box but...well, that was just a thought.

Handmade Drum Kit

Ok, I wanted to upload this video a really really long time ago but the file was too large and I kinda gave up on it. Since I have nothing much to do this few days, I found out how to compress the size of the video and after hours of waiting, voila! This video is finally up =)

So, what is so interesting about this video? Nope, it's not funny like the rest of the videos I posted up in the last few posts. This is a video taken by me (ok, not by me but rather my dad. But I was there! =D) when I was in Vietnam. Check out the handmade drum kit! Creative la.

Oh yea. Ignore how stim I look in the video. I blame it on the seasickness and the uber sien-ness of sitting in soooo many boats there. Though this was the boat on which I experienced the worst seasickness, I thought it was the coolest, obviously because of the entertainment.

Anyway, I'm talking too much again. Just enjoy the video =P

The place we call HOME

In conjunction with World Environment Day, HOME, a one-and-a-half-hour documentary directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, was released simultaneously worldwide yesterday on the 5th of June in theaters, Internet, DVD and TV. In Malaysia, GSC screened this movie free for the whole day yesterday.

So, what is this documentary about? Basically, it shows us the earth, wonderfully and magnificently created by God and what we humans have done to it. In 200,000 years on Earth, humanity has upset the balance of the planet, established by nearly four billion years of evolution.

The price to pay is high, but it's too late to be a pessimist: humanity has barely 10 years to reverse the trend, become aware of the full extent of its exploitation of the Earth's riches and change its patterns of consumption.

This documentary brings us unique footage from over 50 countries, all seen from air. I highly recommend all of you to watch it. Not only does it open our eyes to what we have done, but we can also see the beauty of our Earth created by the hands of our Father. That's not all, we can increase our knowledge through this video, especially for those of us who study science.

If you didn't catch the release of HOME yesterday, you can watch it here in YouTube. I know it might take quite a long time to load the video (I think this would be the longest video ever on YouTube) but it's really worth the time. So what you waiting for? Go watch it!

One-year-young

This blog started out with the url http://kudosmsceecee.blogspot.com with the title Kudos Ms CeeCee. I know (or at least I think) a lot of you are still wondering why I chose that title and url. But..I'm still not telling. Haha. After that, I changed my link to the current one which is http://life-the-way-it-is.blogspot.com due to certain reasons.

My blog title also faced a few changes from time to time, from Kudos Ms CeeCee to Multi-Personalitied Me! (after naming my blog that, I found out that there was no such word as 'personalitied') and then stop. relax. BREATHE to the current one, C is for Carmen.

It's amazing how my blog has evolved from when it started out as something to kill my boredom until now. As I reread my previous entries (Not all, mind you. Only scanning through), I realized that my style of writing has changed (for the bettter, I hope) and even the content has more substance now (or doesn't it?).

I know I hardly update anymore. No, I'm not going to give reasons like I'm busy or I have no time or I'm studying (hah!). It's more like I have nothing to blog about. Well, at least most of the things are not really worth blogging. It's not like my life is so un-happening (it's not that happening either but I have a life, okay?). I just think that not everything should be written for the entire world (or at least a small part of Penang Island) to read.

Let me just put it this way. My blog has grown-up, matured and learnt that keeping quiet when it has nothing to say is always the best. I know in the past, my blog was updated daily and sometimes even a few times a day, about the events of my life. Heck, my highest record for a month was 39 in May and there are only 31 days in that month. Now, it has slowed down to a minimum of 5 posts monthly (hey, April hasn't ended yet).

Maybe I've just lost my interest for blogging but really, I think it's best that my blog continues on the way it is (with maybe a little more updates but no promises!). I mean, now I realize that blurting out every bit of your personal life and ranting on and on in your blog is kinda immature (no offense to anyone). So, from now on, only good and worth while news will reach your eyes through this blog.

Anyway, I just uploaded all the headers I used from the birth of this blog until it's first birthday. =)

Oh yeah. Google gave me such a scare just now. I couldn't log in to my account even though I tried like at least 20 times! I almost gave up and thought that maybe my blog just wasn't meant to live to a year-old. Just thought I might share that with you guys.

Anyway, stay tuned to my blog all ye faithful readers! Haha.

Satisfaction?

Well, I couldn't stand looking at my calculator only half pretty. So, yeah. You guessed it. I designed something for the back as well. I know, I know. You think I have waaaay too much time to waste. But the thing is, I'm sort of a perfectionist. So how can you expect me to leave it half done? Anyway, here are the pictures!

I made the back a little less complicated so that it won't look so messy. Overall, I still like the front design better but the back is also nice in its own way. What do you think?

It took me longer to finish the back because of its complicated-ness. Haha. All those screws and the place to change battery. I had to make sure I didn't close it up. Hey, I'm not that bimbo to sticker everything up just to make it look nicer but in the end, I can't change the batteries anymore.

Kinda messed up the finishing for the back though. Argh. Now, little perfectionist me will keep smacking myself in the head for making such a stupid mistake. Ah well. What to do..what to do. Curiousity made me finish it, so curiousity will be the death of me. =X
